
After Democrats narrowly avoided the "red wave" that had been predicted for this week's midterms, President Biden credited a backlash against those who support denying access to abortions, especially after the conservative wing of the Supreme Court this summer overruled the landmark Roe v. Wade decision that had enshrined federal abortion rights for decades. "You all showed up and beat the hell out of them," Biden told supporters at an event celebrating the Democratic National Committee at Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
"Those who support ripping away the rights to choose don't have a clue about the power of women in America but now I think they do," Biden said. The president said that "one of the most extraordinary things" about the Supreme Court's summer decision in the Roe reversal, known as the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, was that it mobilized women to vote. "As I've said, women in America made their voices heard, man," he said. Read more here. |
