Former President Trump is seeking to keep the spotlight on him by drawing out his decision on whether or not to join his fellow candidates in the first GOP presidential primary debate later this month. Trump has been threatening to skip the Republican National Committee's Aug. 23 debate for months, citing his frontrunner status in the primary, but he said this week that he hasn't "totally ruled it out." He told Eric Bolling Wednesday on Newsmax that he's "already decided" whether to attend or not, but said he won't announce his plans until the following week, even closer to the event date. |

The Biden administration has found more of its student loan policies entangled in legal battles, raising anxiety for borrowers as repayments are set to start in the fall. The most recent challenges threaten student loan forgiveness for 800,000 borrowers and changes to the borrower defense student debt relief program that would make it easier for those defrauded by their colleges to receive forgiveness. |

Few candidates have been as aggressive in their attacks against former President Trump or shown the ability to get under the former president's skin quite like Chris Christie. While the former New Jersey governor is occasionally quizzed at town halls and in TV interviews about his policy positions, his frequent and at times personal criticisms of Trump have garnered him headlines and raised the question of whether he can make waves in the primary field either with his candidacy or by derailing Trump's. |

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Saturday that the investigation into Hunter Biden is going to be a "total sham," following U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss' appointment as special counsel. "The House, they've been working on supposedly holding Hunter Biden accountable," DeSantis told reporters at the Iowa State Fair. "And like, I don't know what these guys are doing, but I think this special counsel, I think they're trying to checkmate that investigation." |

A court showdown is set for Monday in the battle over Alabama's congressional map and whether the Republican-led state defied the Supreme Court by not drawing a second majority-Black district. Challengers have filed objections to Alabama's new map, which lawmakers passed after their previous design was struck down for likely diluting the power of Black voters. |

Former President Trump blamed Democrats on Saturday for the "vast amounts of money" his 2024 campaign is spending on legal fees. "The Lunatic Left, working closely with Crooked Joe Biden and his corrupt DOJ, is not only focusing on Election Interference, but on getting the Trump Campaign to spend vast amounts of money on legal fees, thereby having less to spend on ads showing that Crooked Joe is the WORST PRESIDENT IN U.S. HISTORY!" Trump said in a post on Truth Social. | |

OPINION | To say that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is being negatively targeted by many in the left-of-center mainstream media would be an understatement. Not a day goes by that he is not vilified by a left-leaning news site. The vitriol these outlets direct at Kennedy is often far more inflammatory than what they launch against the "hated" former President Donald Trump on a regular basis. |
The Biden administration and leading Democrats reacted with outrage and confusion to the credit rating agency Fitch downgrading its assessment of the federal government. But this development is long overdue. Fitch cited many factors in their analysis, including partisan polarization and standoffs over important legislation. However, the most fundamental problem cited was the rapid increase in the national debt and the inability of Congress to address long-term problems. |
