Minnesota state Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband were assassinated at their home on Saturday, and lawmakers from across the aisle have condemned the act of political violence.
Trump is also facing pressure as his administration grapples with unrest in Middle East as Israel and Iran continue to trade attacks. Israel's initial attack on Thursday took out half a dozen of Iran's top military generals, nuclear scientists and inflicted damage on Tehran's nuclear facilities. |

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said the deadly shooting of state Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband on Saturday was politically motivated, noting that there was some "throughline with abortion" after his list of targets was found to include abortion advocates and facilities. "It was politically motivated, and there clearly was some throughline with abortion because of the groups that were on the list, and other things that I've heard were in this manifesto. So that was one of his motivations," she said.

| Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said her security was increased without her request following the fatal shooting of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband over the weekend.
During an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press," host Kristen Welker asked if Klobuchar knew whether she was on the list of targets, which included "prominent pro-choice individuals in Minnesota," an official who has seen the list told The Hill's sister network NewsNation.
Klobuchar responded that, although she does not have confirmation as to whether she was included on the list, her security was increased without her request. |

Israeli ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, said the goal in the war against Iran is not to contain it but to win it, as the two countries continue to exchange strikes for a third day.
During an appearance on ABC's "This Week," host Martha Raddatz asked Leiter how Israel would avoid escalating and attempt to contain the war.
"Martha, the objective is not to contain the war," Leiter responded. "The objective is to win the war." |
