A year and a half ago, Evgenia Peretz began reporting into bubbling allegations of sexual misconduct at Miss Hall's School—an elite all-girls boarding school in the Berkshires, founded in 1898. Peretz's eventual story, "Girls, Interrupted," was a horrifying glimpse into one male teacher's purported predation of his students that went back decades, and the school's apparent silence in the face of whispers and allegations. Two former students, Melissa Fares and Hilary Simon, bravely, heartbreakingly recounted their experiences with Matt Rutledge to Vanity Fair. For decades Matt Rutledge allegedly groomed and sexually attacked young teenage girls who were his students. Aleta Law, hired by the school last year, has now released its 60-page independent report, which details Rutledge's sexual misconduct and boundary violations across three decades. The report concludes, in part, "that the school's leadership failed to adequately investigate and respond to the reported information."
