CNN Town Hall: Patriotism, the players and the President

Football fields have become forums for political debate over the past week, after President Donald Trump criticized players who kneel during the National Anthem to protest police brutality.

The President's criticism has set off a wave of defiance in the NFL, but it has also stoked further backlash to the protests. Here are some of the stories that have people talking:

-- The protests didn't start with a knee. Everyone seems to forget that before Colin Kaepernick knelt, he sat.

-- More than 30,000 people are demanding that a statue of a retired NFL legend be taken down after he knelt with other players during the anthem.
