The toxic relationship between Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) has left senators pessimistic about reaching a deal to set the rules of President Trump’s impeachment trial.
“The problem is the core of the relationship between him and Schumer,” said one Republican senator close to McConnell. “Their history is bad.”
