The Department of Justice (DOJ) plans to appeal a judge's ruling that sided with former President Trump's request for an independent document handler in his ongoing dispute over confidential records found at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. "Without a stay, the government and public also will suffer irreparable harm from the undue delay to the criminal investigation," the DOJ wrote in its filing. "Any delay poses significant concerns in the context of an investigation into the mishandling of classified records." The motion would allow the government to continue looking into the contents of the classified records that were recovered from the resort. Trump has asked that a yet-to-be-appointed third-party special master first vet the documents that were seized in the surprise Aug. 8 search. Read more here. |
