The debate within the Democratic Party over Israel could come to a head this summer at its convention as it faces a significant intraparty divide on how to approach the ongoing conflict.
Members of the party critical of U.S. support for Israel amid its war with Hamas have rallied around a movement to buck President Biden in the Democratic primaries and vote "uncommitted" as a protest vote against him. The movement has seen moderate success and attained some delegates to be sent to the convention, which will be held in Chicago in August. |

Democrats scored a tactical win this week after No Labels, a group that had been pushing for a potential third-party presidential bid, announced it was dismantling its effort this year. Democratic strategists, party officials and activists had kept close tabs on the centrist group, trying to monitor their movements and assess their money as they sought to recruit a prominent rival to President Biden and former President Trump. |

President Biden could face issues getting on the Ohio ballot for the general election over a scheduling conflict related to the timing of the Democratic National Convention. The Ohio Secretary of State's office sent a letter to Ohio Democratic Chair Liz Walters on Friday asking for clarification of an "apparent conflict" in the state's law regarding the deadline by which the party's presidential nominee must be certified to Ohio's Secretary of State's office and Democratic National Committee's (DNC) nominating process. |

Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an expanding — and often invisible — role in America's legal system. While AI tools are being used to inform criminal investigations, there is often no way for defendants to challenge their digital accuser or even know what role it played in the case.
"Under current law in most jurisdictions, [prosecutors] don't have to disclose artificial intelligence use to the judge or defense counsel," Rebecca Wexler, professor of law at the University of California, Berkeley, told The Hill. |

Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn warned that "nothing is preventing" another Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol since there has not been accountability "at the highest level." "Accountability serves two purposes," Dunn, who testified before the House select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol, said during his Saturday appearance on MSNBC's "The Weekend." |

| OPINION | In the near future, all human beings—including pre-born children—may be protected by the Florida Constitution. In a pair of abortion decisions handed down Monday, the Florida Supreme Court ruled that there is no "right to abortion" in the state constitution and allowed an abortion referendum to appear on the November ballot. While abortion advocates cheered the latter decision, the court's opinions reveal deep reservations about abortion. Indeed, despite narrowly allowing the referendum to move forward by a 4-3 vote, a supermajority of justices signaled their view that pre-born children are "persons" entitled to the right to life under the Florida Constitution. |

OPINION | "Are you better off today than you were four years ago?" Roundly criticized for its blatant revisionism, House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik's (R-N.Y.) question last month had an unintended consequence: It finally pushed the COVID-19 pandemic to the forefront of the 2024 presidential campaign's rhetoric. |
