North Carolina voters: You're ouuuut:
| | | Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R), the 26-year-old congressman from North Carolina, is projected to lose the primary in his reelection battle after a controversial first term in Congress. When I say 'controversial': Cawthorn earned criticisms from both Republican and Democratic colleagues. A few examples of the controversies surrounding Cawthorn: "He angered many of his fellow House Republicans earlier this year after he suggested in a podcast interview that his colleagues were attending orgies and snorting cocaine. He has also been the subject of a series of salacious revelations, including a leaked nude video that he dismissed as 'blackmail.'" ^ Plus: "In two separate incidents this year he was cited for driving with a suspended license and attempting to take a gun through an airport security checkpoint. And he drew headlines for calling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a 'thug.'" Who won?: State Sen. Chuck Edwards. The Washington Post's Amber Phillips has a quick primer on Edwards. The gist of the race: Cawthorn had six primary opponents but was a favorite to win. Former President Trump endorsed Cawthorn and recently said Cawthorn deserved a "second change" despite some "foolish mistakes." More on the race, via The Hill's Max Greenwood | | | IT'S WEDNESDAY. | The Hill's Niall Stanage breaks down the night — and what sense of clarity the results provide for November: Winners: - Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman, who suffered a stroke on Friday and still won decisively.
- Election denialism — Pennsylvania state Sen. Doug Mastriano, who has centered his campaign around false claims of widespread voter fraud in 2020, won his primary.
- Progressive Democrats
- Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and House GOP leadership
Mixed: - Former President Trump
- Democratic general election hopes
Losers: - Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), for reasons I just explained.
- Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Pa.), who had been considered a rising star, but fizzled out.
- Kathy Barnette, who appeared to have a lot of momentum in the final stretch but didn't come close to winning in the end.
- Clarity: "Tuesday's results — and the lack of results in some places — made it tougher than normal to draw clear lessons."

| Via The Washington Post's Michelle Ye Hee Lee and Min Joo Kim, "The coronavirus pandemic has finally penetrated North Korea, an impoverished country with a fragile health-care system and no vaccine program." The situation: "If the figures are accurate, the country appears to be experiencing the beginnings of the disaster that the rest of the world faced in early 2020: a national health crisis that will quickly overwhelm a health-care system already under duress, with the most vulnerable people at greatest risk of death." Why is there no vaccine?: "North Korea is one of two countries in the world that has no coronavirus vaccines after twice refusing shipments from Covax, the U.N.-backed initiative providing doses to countries that need them."
