“The economy needs a tax cut and the Republican Party needs to deliver, so I think we’ll get there,” the South Carolina Republican told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
"If Moore wins, there will immediately be an ethics investigation and he will be working under a cloud. He is a distraction," Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) said of Moore to host Chris Wallace on "Fox New Sunday."
“Roy Moore cannot be replaced on the ballot," Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel said. "He is the candidate. The Alabama [Republican] Party has stood by that. Now the Alabama voters are going to have to be the judge and jury on this."
“We have made progress, but unfortunately 26 years ago, Washington wasn’t ready to lead on this issue, and I’m afraid even today Washington cannot lead the country on this issue.”
“Wall Street hates it like the devil hates holy water. And they’re trying to put an end to it with Mr. Mulvaney stepping into Cordray’s spot,” the Senate minority whip said, referencing White House budget chief Mick Mulvaney and former CFPB director Richard Cordray.
“My hope is, you know, that we won’t play those kind of games,” Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) said. “That, you know, that we’ll have an interim process here and that would be Mick Mulvaney or somebody else, the president chooses, and then Congress will get busy in confirming a new director.”
“It depends on what the president has done and what the president’s conversations with Michael Flynn and others have been,” the former U.S. attorney told CNN’s “State of the Union” when asked if Trump should be concerned. “But if you’ve done bad things, then you should be very worried.”
“If you’re going to steal, and you’re going to steal in China, and someone gets you out of that, you ought to say ‘thank you,’ and they should say ‘you’re welcome,’” the Republican senator said on ABC’s “This Week” regarding Trump’s ongoing spat with LaVar Ball.
