Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has announced a deal with Democrats to fund the government and set spending levels for defense and nondefense programs over the next two years.
The legislation would avert a government shutdown on Friday, when federal funding is due to expire, and would raise the spending caps for defense and nondefense programs over the next two years.
It would boost defense and nondefense programs, repealing the automatic spending cuts known as sequestration for the next two years.
