"I’m not aware of any plans to make those movements…but we do have some real concerns with some of the activities and some of the scope that the investigation has gone," the White House press secretary said.
Sen. Susan Collins (Maine), a leading moderate Republican voice, on Sunday said that passing a bill to protect Robert Mueller would send a “very strong message” to President Trump not to interfere in the special counsel's investigation.
“I don’t know what Mueller was supposed to do other than what he did. When a prosecutor comes in contact with information or evidence of a crime, what are you supposed to do, other than refer to the appropriate jurisdiction?" Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) asked Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."
"Russia sanctions will be coming down. Secretary Mnuchin will be announcing those on Monday if he hasn't already, and they will be going directly to any sort of companies that were dealing with equipment related to [Bashar] Assad and chemical weapons use."
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said on Sunday that President Trump is sending a message with his recent pardon of Scooter Libby — former Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff — that he will support anyone who is on his side.
Pressed about President Trump's state of mind on Sunday, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said her boss is focused on Syria in her own interactions with the commander-in-chief.
“We have to be very conscious of the fact that we cannot allow even the smallest use of chemical weapons. That's why you saw the president strike this past weekend, that's why you saw him expel sixty Russian spies after the attack in Salisbury," U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said.
Sen. Joni Ernst (Iowa), a Republican on the Armed Services Committee, on Sunday said she would be uncomfortable with President Trump putting boots on the ground in Syria and urged Trump to explain his plan for the war-torn region to Congress.
“I’m unaware that they presented definitive evidence of what the use of the chemical weapons was,” Sen. Angus King (I-Maine) said on CNN's "State of the Union."
“We got updated briefings from over the weekend about the strike and they indicated that they had confidence that chemical weapons had been used but they didn’t supply the evidence."
Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) confirmed on Sunday he would not vote to confirm CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of state, increasing the likelihood that President Trump's nominee could fail to get a positive vote out of committee.
“I don’t think that Donald Trump has a decent understanding of what the attorney-client privilege is and how it can be pierced,” the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York said.
Former Speaker Newt Gingrich ripped the office of special counsel Robert Mueller in an interview on Sunday, calling the investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia a "breakdown" of the U.S. Constitution.
"This is a man who can’t get along with a man he made Secretary of State. He can’t get along with...his own attorney general He fired his own chief of staff," former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) told radio host John Catsimatidis on AM 970 "The Answer." "He’s a very hard man to get along with."
