Former President Trump's hush money trial ended in a sweeping conviction, but his historic case is far from over.
As Trump vows to appeal, the proceedings will meanwhile move ahead toward sentencing on July 11 — just days before Trump is set to officially become the Republican Party's presidential nominee. |

Republican allies of former President Trump are taking to the airwaves to boost his attacks on the justice system and condemn those who say people should respect the justice system that delivered his guilty verdict in the New York hush money trial.
The GOP has long billed itself as the "law and order" party, one that has promoted the justice system and urged the need to respect the rule of law. |

Vulnerable House Republicans are treading carefully around the bombshell conviction of former President Trump, showing a wariness to wade into the prickly debate over hush money, a porn star and the integrity of a once-treasured criminal justice system that Trump has vilified. While GOP leaders and a long list of rank-and-file Republicans — including a number of front-liners — have raced to Trump's defense following the guilty verdict on all counts in his New York hush money trial, more than half of the 17 House Republicans representing districts won by President Biden in 2020 have so far remained silent. |

President Biden weighed in Friday on former President Trump's verdict in his New York hush money case, saying Trump's contention that the trial was "rigged" is "irresponsible" and "reckless." "It's reckless, it's dangerous, it's irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don't like the verdict," the president said. |

| A lawyer for Stormy Daniels, the adult film star central to former President Trump's hush money trial, said Friday that Trump's recent conviction "hit her hard." "I got a pretty instant report from the courthouse," Attorney Clark Brewster said in an interview on NewsNation's "Elizabeth Vargas Reports. "And so, it hadn't hit the news yet when I told her, really. And, she was really kind of taken aback." |

Special counsel Jack Smith filed a new motion Friday asking the judge overseeing former President Trump's classified documents case to block him from making public statements that could put law enforcement in danger. His latest request mirrors his first, filed last week, pressing Judge Aileen Cannon to issue a narrow gag order based on the former president's false claims that the Biden administration was prepared to use deadly force on him when searching for classified records at his Mar-a-Lago resort in 2022. |

President Biden announced the terms of an Israeli-led proposal Friday that includes a three-part road map toward an end to fighting and the release of all remaining hostages taken Oct. 7, giving the strongest indication yet for a potential end to the war between Israel and Hamas. "After intensive diplomacy carried out by my team, my many conversations with leaders of Israel, Qatar and Egypt, and other Middle Eastern countries, Israel has offered a comprehensive new proposal. It's a road map to an enduring cease-fire and the release of all hostages," Biden said. |

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially been invited to deliver an address to Congress, according to a letter obtained by The Hill. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Friday sent Netanyahu a formal invitation to speak during a joint meeting of Congress, and the invitation featured the signatures of all four Congressional leaders: Johnson, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.). |

A disciplinary board associated with the D.C. Bar recommended disbarring Rudy Giuliani Friday, over efforts he took to prevent the transfer of power after former President Trump lost the 2020 election. The recommendation — which must still be approved by the D.C. Court of Appeals — offers a scathing review of Giuliani's efforts to fight Trump's loss in Pennsylvania. |

Looming elections across North America could upend a decades-long integration process as the continent's three major nations face sharp choices between populism and traditional liberalism.
The interactions among Mexican, U.S. and Canadian leaders stand to shape the political and economic future of a free trade zone with complex and profitable supply lines and consumer markets on one hand — and increasingly fortified borders on the other. |

OPINION | Recently, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill board of trustees diverted $2.3 million spent on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs into public safety. Echoing sentiments from other campuses, Chair David Boliek said, "I think that DEI is divisive. I don't think that it's productive. I don't think that it gives a return on investment to taxpayers and to the institution itself." |
OPINION | It will be a few weeks before the fallout of the Trump guilty verdict can be properly assessed. But what won't change are the fundamental problems facing President Biden's re-election campaign. Of course, Team Biden remains in the denial stage about "misinformed" voters, unfair media and the whole typical menu of excuses and self-pity. Biden's polling problems have been evident for months. |

A few hours after winning a case that will forever define him, Alvin L. Bragg sent an email to his staff at the Manhattan district attorney's office. He did not celebrate, or describe the case in detail. He did not mention former President Donald J. Trump at all. Instead, Mr. Bragg thanked the more than 500 prosecutors in his office who were not on the trial team for their patience and hard work. |
SYDNEY—After growing up in suburban Sydney and working at her parents' gas station, Robyn Denholm remembers being scared about moving to the U.S. for a job more than 20 years ago. Denholm, who at the time was a single mom, called her dad and asked for advice. "What's the worst thing that can happen?" he asked her. "You screw up and you have to come home." |
TEL AVIV (AP) — Families of Israeli hostages held by Hamas called for all parties to immediately accept a proposal detailed by U.S. President Joe Biden to end the nearly 8-month-long war and bring their relatives home, but Israel's government said conditions for a cease-fire still must be met. |
NEW DELHI — The end has come for India's 47-day marathon election for the lower house of Parliament, the Lok Sabha, in which almost a billion voters, from the Himalayas in the north to far flung islands in the Indian Ocean, have taken part. |
