Good Monday evening. This is Daniel Allott with The Hill's Top Opinions.
The left controls five megaphones in America, writes political consultant DOUGLAS MACKINNON: the media, academia, entertainment, science and medicine. And it often uses those megaphones to champion and celebrate women — but only women who "create, instill and parrot the liberal policies and narratives of the moment."
One woman who refuses to do this is Christina Pushaw, Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R-Fla.) press secretary before becoming rapid response director for his 2022 reelection campaign.
According to MacKinnon, Pushaw is the left's worst nightmare and DeSantis's secret weapon. "Pushaw is intelligent, fast on her feet, speaks in paragraphs and suffers no fools," he writes.
If Pushaw were press secretary for a rising Democratic lawmaker, MacKinnon thinks she'd "probably have a multimillion-dollar book contract … a cover story in Vanity Fair, become the darling of 'The View' and been offered a motion picture deal by a Hollywood studio."
Pushaw is a force to be reckoned with, and Democrats should take notice. And so should former President Trump. If DeSantis runs for president and Trump attacks him, says MacKinnon, Trump had "better have his helmet on and his chinstrap buckled because Pushaw very well might lay waste to Trump's insults — and his campaign in the process."
