It's been a week of political whiplash for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who in a matter of days has gone from top foil to the Biden White House to a willing partner with the president and his team. It was Sept. 20 when the White House was on alert for the potential that DeSantis was organizing a flight of migrants from Texas to President Biden's home state of Delaware, his latest move to draw attention to the surge of immigrants at the southern border and what he viewed as the responsibility of blue states to share the burden. One week later, DeSantis was on the phone with Biden in the first of three calls the two men have held this week to coordinate the response to Hurricane Ian as the storm knocked out power, flooded communities and destroyed homes across the state of Florida. |

OPINION | On Wednesday, Sept. 28, I had the honor of receiving the John Robert Lewis Lifetime Legacy Award at the opening night Gala of the 10th anniversary of the March on Washington Film Festival. I can't imagine a greater honor, but the taste is bittersweet. Not only because the great John Lewis is no longer with us, but because of the times we're living in now. |

OPINION | As one of the only members of Congress to have stayed overnight in Ukraine since Russia's unprovoked attack in February, I've witnessed the 24-hour cycle of a capital city finding energy through every-day routine. I travelled to Kyiv to participate in the Yalta European Strategy Conference, where President Volodymyr Zelensky and senior Ukrainian officials cautioned that the next 90 days might determine the outcome of the war in Ukraine, and that winter will be difficult. The purpose of our meetings was to discuss with our NATO allies how we can continue to support Ukraine and end Russia's war of choice. |

As protests spread across Iran last week, Salim Haqiqi could think of little else. He watched every video he could find on social media, looking on in horror as security forces confronted protesters with bullets and tear gas. And he worried constantly about his son. |
