Democrats are in survival mode in trying to rebuild the coalition that helped President Biden win the White House in 2020, working to bring critical voters back to the fold at this point rather than substantially trying to grow the base. The strategy is unfolding in part from Biden's travel patterns and appearances. This week, he visited two states that were pivotal to his victory, Michigan and Wisconsin. But he's also spent considerable time in Democratic strongholds like New York and California and is next expected to spend time in Phoenix and Las Vegas, home to two other closely-watched states in 2024. |

Lawmakers are racing to reach an agreement on the final six full-year government funding bills, but they face a list of hurdles as they barrel toward a shutdown deadline Friday. The divided Congress just finished work on its first batch of funding bills for fiscal 2024 last week. But some negotiators see the tranche coming down the pike — which covers agencies like the departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS) — as their toughest yet. |

The battle to become the Senate GOP's nominee in Ohio against Sen. Sherrod Brown (D) is getting nastier by the day, just as former President Trump gets set to make his presence felt on Saturday. What had long been a three-way brawl appears to have winnowed down to a two-way race between as businessman Bernie Moreno and state Sen. Matt Dolan (R), potentially squeezing out Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R). |

Former President Trump's hush money judge in New York has delayed the upcoming trial until mid-April after new evidence was turned over to the parties, aiding the former president's goal of delaying his criminal trials. Jury selection was scheduled to begin March 25, which would've marked Trump's first criminal trial, but Judge Juan Merchan agreed to push it back after prosecutors consented to the one-month delay. |

Former Trump economic adviser Peter Navarro filed an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court on Friday, a last-ditch effort to avoid reporting for his prison term as he appeals his conviction for contempt of Congress. Navarro has been ordered to report to a Miami prison on Tuesday to serve a four-month sentence in connection with refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. |

Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) slammed the claims that he's resigning from Congress to hinder Rep. Lauren Boebert's (R-Colo.) chances of claiming his 4th Congressional District seat. Buck initially announced last year that he would not be running for reelection. He announced his early retirement from Congress on Tuesday, triggering a special election to fill his spot. |

| Nathan Wade, who helped lead former President Trump's criminal prosecution in Georgia, resigned Friday after the judge called for him to do so over his romantic relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D). Judge Scott McAfee ruled the romance created an appearance of a conflict of interest, insisting that the entire district attorney's office must be sidelined unless Wade leaves. |

Former Vice President Mike Pence said Friday he will not endorse his former boss and two-time running mate in the 2024 general election, a nod to the deep divisions between the two men that has formed since they left office. "It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year," Pence, who ran an unsuccessful 2024 presidential campaign of his own, told Martha MacCallum on Fox News. |

| OPINION | If I were still in the House, I would have voted to make TikTok break up with China, because the risk that the Chinese government will use the platform to influence Americans is real. If the "TikTok bill" in its current form is enacted, and all goes according to plan, the company and its data will be owned by Americans. And then, I'm sorry to say, absolutely nothing else will change. |
OPINION | Politics abounds in paradox. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's overwhelming assault on Gaza threatens more than the desperate victims there. It jeopardizes the critical bond between the United States and Israel, and raises added obstacles to the reelection of President Joe Biden, one of the most devoted supporters of Israel ever to occupy the White House. Biden is becoming collateral damage in Netanyahu's war. |

TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — Alexei Navalny's team is used to working independently. The most potent foe of Russian President Vladimir Putin was frequently absent for long stretches after being arrested, assaulted, poisoned, or imprisoned. |
BELGOROD, Russia — As polling stations opened across Russia on Friday for a three-day presidential election that Vladimir Putin is certain to win, a volley of Ukrainian missiles crashed into the western city of Belgorod, damaging apartment buildings and injuring at least two people as thousands of residents scrambled, yet again, for shelter. |
