U.S. District Judge James Boasberg recently imposed a temporary order to halt deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, an 18th-century wartime law. Boasberg contended during Thursday's hearing that the government "evaded" his deadline to fork over information about the deportations of migrants that were flown to El Salvador. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said he will not step down from his position amid calls for him to do so after voting to advance a GOP-crafted funding bill.
During an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press," Schumer confirmed that he would not be stepping down from his position as Senate minority leader, noting that he expected "a lot of controversy" for his vote to advance the House Republican-drafted funding bill, which helped avoid a government shutdown. |

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) said democracy in the United States is "at risk," calling President Trump a "lawless, angry man" during an interview that on NBC's "Meet the Press."
When asked by host Kristen Welker whether he believes the U.S. is in a constitutional crisis, Schumer said he does.
"Democracy is at risk," he said. "Look, Donald Trump is a lawless, angry man. He thinks he should be king. He thinks he should do whatever he wants, regardless of the law, and he thinks judges should just listen to him." |

| Education Secretary Linda McMahon discussed the possible restoration of $400 million in federal funding to Columbia University, saying that the Trump administration and the school "are on the right track now to make sure the final negotiations to unfreeze that money will be in place."

Border czar Tom Homan said officials are "confident" that all the migrants on the deportation flights were Venezuelan gang members.
Homan, during an interview on ABC's "This Week," reiterated that all the migrants on the flight were members of the gang Tren de Aragua (TdA), noting that multiple officials were confident in their decision.
"A lot of officers, a lot of criminal investigators, special agents who've done this for decades looked at the intelligence information, the criminal investigation information, all their various social media and surveillance and government records and public records, and they are confident that they're all members of the TdA," he said. |
