🐰Trump’s Easter message🐣: |
All eyes are on President Trump’s deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He will hold a news conference soon to give the latest update on the situation in the Middle East. 💻 Watch it live at 1 p.m.
Trump just spoke to reporters at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll: Here are the top moments:
🔷 On Iran’s oil: “If I had my choice, what would I like to do, take the oil. Because it's there for the taking. There's not a thing they can do about it. Unfortunately, the American people would like to see us to come home. If it were up to me, I'd take the oil. I'd keep the oil. I would make plenty of money." 🎥 Watch the clip
🔷 He praised the rescue of the U.S. airman: "It's very rare that you can do it. And what we did yesterday is we picked up not one, we picked up two…Those two pilots were incredible, brave, and we thank them." 🎥 Watch the clip

He updated his deadline: Trump added an extra day to his deadline for Iran to accept his terms, posting on social media, “Tuesday, 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time!”
Trump’s ultimatum for Iran: “Open the F—in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” Trump posted an Easter morning message. 🔎 Read Trump’s full post
Does Iran seem willing to oblige?: Iran has shown little willingness to agree to the U.S.’s terms. It rejected a peace proposal from the U.S. earlier today, calling it “unrealistic.”
Ceasefire proposals are being floated?: Multiple media outlets report that Iran and the U.S. have received draft ceasefire proposals. The Associated Press reports that mediators from Egypt, Pakistan and Turkey have sent the U.S. and Iran a draft proposal of a 45-day ceasefire that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Savannah Guthrie has returned to work: |
Savannah Guthrie returned to NBC’s “Today” show this morning, more than two months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, vanished from her home in an unsolved apparent kidnapping.
“Welcome to ‘Today’ on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it is good to be home,” Guthrie said as the show opened.
“Yes, it is good to have you back at home,” co-host Craig Melvin chimed in with a quick acknowledgement.
“Well, here we go. Ready or not, let’s do the news,” Guthrie said. But aside from that, Guthrie did not mention her mother’s disappearance.

The Supreme Court clears the way for the Steve Bannon case to be dismissed: |
“The Supreme Court on Monday sent longtime President Trump ally Steve Bannon’s contempt of Congress case back to a lower court where a judge is expected to dismiss it,” reports The Hill’s Ella Lee.
Details: “The justices declined to hear arguments in Bannon’s appeal of his 2022 conviction for evading a subpoena from the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, instead granting his petition only to vacate a lower court’s holding and kick the case back there. The Justice Department in February moved to dismiss the two-count indictment prosecutors filed against Bannon nearly five years ago, meaning the case will likely be dismissed upon its return to the lower court, erasing the conviction.” Read more
