Trump threatens Iran over Hormuz |
President Trump over the weekend threatened Iran's infrastructure, calling on Tehran to "Open the F‑‑‑in’ Strait" of Hormuz.
|
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F‑‑‑in’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key chokepoint in the oil supply chain and its effective closure since the start of the war has sent oil and gasoline prices soaring.
Meanwhile, Iran has allowed a handful of ships to pass through in recent weeks, instituting a toll booth system.
On Monday, Trump floated the prospect of the U.S. implementing its own toll booth system on the strait.
However, he also said that any peace deal must include “free traffic of oil.”
