The sanctions effectively ban Iran from selling its oil on the world market. Trump has said he expectsall countries toquit importing oil from Iran or face US sanctions, though experts say that's not realistic. The administration already has said it's granting temporary waivers to eight "jurisdictions" from energy-related sanctions.
