President Biden will now send 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine after Germany announced its own plans to provide Leopard tanks to Kyiv amid its nearly year-long battle with Russia. The tanks from the United States could take months to reach the battlefield, senior administration officials told reporters. But the move to provide tanks shows a shift for the Biden administration, which had previously argued the assistance wouldn't be helpful to Ukraine. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced Wednesday that Berlin would send Leopard tanks to Ukraine and allow for other European nations to also send the German-made tanks to Kyiv. |

📄 White House 'always reviewing' guidelines around classified docs
|
The White House is constantly reviewing the guidelines around classified documents, national security spokesman John Kirby says. "I don't have any changes to speak to the process of classified material handling," Kirby told reporters Wednesday. "The guidelines change over time as technology changes, and we're always reviewing those procedures to make sure that they're fully appropriate."
The discovery of classified documents at Biden's Delaware home and former office in Washington, D.C., as well as those found at former President Trump's Florida home and former Vice President Pence's Indiana home, have raised questions about the system and rules around such documents.

🪑 Biden team hits back at GOP denying Dems seats on committees
|
The White House is pushing back on Speaker Kevin McCarthy's (R-Calif.) plan to remove three House Democrats from their top committee assignments. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Wednesday that McCarthy's decision to block Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) from retaining their posts on the House Intelligence Committee, and his plan to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) from her seat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, were driven by politics. "We'll say that when it comes to that committee, it should not be politicized," Jean-Pierre said. "It should be independent. Those congressional members bring a lot of expertise to that committee, and I'll leave it there."
