View Online Technology Technology  The Big Story  Senate to receive classified briefing on AI Senators will receive their first-ever classified briefing on artificial intelligence at 3 p.m. Tuesday from Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines and other administration officials.   © Greg Nash The briefing, which comes amid growing interest among lawmakers in trying to regulate and invest in the emerging technology, will take place in the Capitol's sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF).    In addition to Haines, Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks, Director of White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Arati Prabhakar, Director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency Trey Whitworth and the Defense Department's chief digital officer, Craig Martell, will also attend the briefing.     Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced the briefing in a letter to colleagues Sunday.     Schumer informed colleagues the briefing will instruct senators on "how we're using and investing in AI to protect our national security and learn what our adversaries are doing in AI."    Read more at TheHill.com. Full Story Yellen says Washington might 'respond to unintended consequences' for China due to tech export curbs BEIJING (AP) — Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Sunday said she agreed Washington will listen to Chinese complaints about security-related curbs on U.S. technology exports and might "respond to unintended consequences" as she ended a visit to Beijing aimed at reviving strained relations. Yellen defended "targeted measures" on trade that China's leaders complain are aimed at hurting its fledgling tech industries. She said the Biden administration wants to "avoid unnecessary repercussions" but gave no indication of possible changes.
