Podesta set to replace Kerry as top US climate diplomat |
White House adviser John Podesta will replace John Kerry as the nation's lead climate diplomat. |
Podesta will get the title of senior advisor to the president for international climate policy. Podesta has been overseeing implementation of the energy and climate provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act. "We need to keep meeting the gravity of this moment, and there is no one better than John Podesta to make sure we do," White House chief of staff Jeff Zients said in a statement. Zients said Podesta will still be "at the helm of driving the implementation of the most significant climate law in history." Podesta is expected to remain at the White House in his role, rather than moving over to the State Department. Read more at TheHill.com. |
