Kamala Harris still does not seem ready to be the Democratic Party's presidential nominee, writes podcaster Derek Hunter. "Her acceptance speech confirmed that." |
"She is an empty pantsuit, basking in the glow of positive media coverage and unburdened by accountability," he writes. The speech contained no vision for how she would govern, says Hunter. It was heavy on biography – but not on anything she actually accomplished while in the U.S. Senate or as vice president. That's because she has very few accomplishments to speak of. Not that the crowd at the Democratic National Convention cared. "Its sustained standing ovation took the place of a resume. Existence as accomplishment is something speakers do only when they lack actual accomplishments." "This was why Harris's speech ran flat." What she'd do as president "is entirely a matter of speculation," Hunter concludes. "Her unwillingness to tell people means that either she doesn't know or she doesn't want us to know." "Neither option is good." Read the op-ed at TheHill.com. |

Despite Israel refusing to confirm or deny that it had a hand in Haniyeh's death, the Iranian government has vowed revenge. Iran has rejected pleas from both the United States and European leaders not to attack Israel, which could lead to an expansion of the current hostilities thus far limited to the war in Gaza and limited exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah. Yet, despite its threats, Tehran has yet to act. |

Sooner or later, Harris will sit down with a journalist for an interview, which may even include a few tough questions. But the honeymoon, I suspect, won't be over — not as long as there's a chance Trump might win. |

By Derek Hunter, former congressional staffer |
No one elects a president so he can settle scores or even address wrongs of the past, they elect a president because of what he or she will do in office. Trump needs to understand this and campaign accordingly. |
