You think you're overextended? Try being the very booked and busy Ben Stiller, who's currently being tugged in multiple different directions—including, yes, toward making another season of the Emmy darling Severance. Or is he? "Oh, shit. I haven't been working on that," the Emmy winner tells David Canfield in the latest episode of VF's Little Gold Men podcast. "I've been so wrapped up with this other…" Then he laughs. "Wouldn't that be awful? People would be upset." Don't toy with our emotions, Zoolander—with all those vibe-killing paparazzi shots from the set of The Devil Wears Prada 2, I, for one, am feeling slightly too fragile at the moment. At least VF has plenty of stories to lift your spirits today, including a sprawling long read about Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers's Las Culturistas podcast hitting the big time. On Bravo, no less! |
It may be true that in space no one can hear you scream. But on Alien: Earth, we are privy to every screech, squish, and thud—sometimes agonizingly so. Noah Hawley's series extension of the Alien franchise—the first of its kind—is a grim, gory, and intermittently fascinating transposing of the usual format. We are no longer lost in space, instead considering a bloody mess in our own backyard.
VF's chief critic reviews the science-fiction horror, which is the best Alien franchise entry in years, he writes. |

Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers bring VF along for the ride as they stage their podcast's parody awards show on Bravo for the first time ever. But is primetime ready for the comedic stylings of Las Culturistas? |
Amy Sherald is bringing Broadway to the Whitney. Shonda Rhimes, Noma Dumezweni, Bernie Telsey, and more theater luminaries gathered to take in American Sublime—and maybe get inspired. |
Neeson has reportedly found new love with Pamela Anderson, but it comes in the wake of tragedy. | |

Ben Stiller has a lot going on right now. He cameoed in the sequel Happy Gilmore 2, which hit Netflix last month, and will start filming a new Meet the Parents movie, Focker In-Law, in just a few weeks. Stiller also recently locked the final cut of his deeply personal debut documentary, Nothing Is Lost, about his own parents, the late, great comedic stars Anna Meara and Jerry Stiller. Finally, there's Severance. He has promised that season three, which is officially on the way, will make it to air sooner than the last installment. But he's also learned to work methodically and carefully.
In conversation with VF's David Canfield, Stiller goes deep on his busy year. |
