Rutte asks for Trump's 'understanding' on NATO countries' hesitancy on supporting Iran war |
NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte on Sunday asked for President Trump's "understanding" amid his frustrations with allied countries expressing hesitancy to provide support to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. "I understand the president's frustration that it takes some time, but again, I also ask for some understanding, because nations had to prepare for this, not knowing and for good reasons about the initial attack on Iran, but now coming together to make sure that we can be able to secure the Strait of Hormuz," Rutte told host Margaret Brennan on CBS's "Face the Nation." |

Senate Republican says there's 'no end in sight' for partial shutdown |
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) on Sunday said there was "no end in sight" for the partial government shutdown that has shuttered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for 36 days. "Let's not play games with the security of our homeland. But we don't have that. So, President Trump is being forced to do something to reduce those airports. Again, it's just unconscionable what Democrats are doing. But because the media is on their side, they're not holding them accountable," Johnson said during an appearance on NewsNation's "The Hill Sunday." |

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Sunday that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at airports is likely to get "much worse," as the partial government shutdown continues.

Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío on Sunday said the country's military is preparing for the "possibility" of aggression from the Trump administration. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) on Sunday criticized the Trump administration's plan to deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to airports starting Monday.

Michael Leiter, the Israeli ambassador to the U.S., said Sunday that the Iranian people must mobilize to overthrow the Islamic Republic regime.

Rep. Kevin Kiley (I-Calif.) said Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers assisting at airports amid lengthy security wait times is "not ideal."
"Anything we can do to make travel a little more seamless right now, I think is fine. But that is a very temporary and not ideal solution," Kiley told host Dana Bash on CNN's "State of the Union." |
