NEWS OF THE MORNING

Trump threatens Minneapolis looters with ‘shooting’:

President Trump threatened looters in Minneapolis, warning he would send National Guard troops to the city and stating that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

Trump tweeted: “I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right…” https://bit.ly/2TOgM7Y

Trump added: “…These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!” https://bit.ly/2XEiwSA

^ Keep in mind about Trump’s second tweet: Trump violated the rules of Twitter. Twitter added a note to his tweet: "This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.” See the violation note attached to Trump’s tweethttps://bit.ly/2XEiwSA

REACTION FROM FORMER VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN — ‘HE IS CALLING FOR VIOLENCE AGAINST AMERICAN CITIZENS’:

Biden tweeted, "I will not lift the President’s tweet. I will not give him that amplification. But he is calling for violence against American citizens during a moment of pain for so many. I’m furious, and you should be too.” https://bit.ly/2B6TJia
