Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said Sunday that federal investigators are unable to investigate various tips the FBI received about President Trump's alleged involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Blanche told host Dana Bash on CNN's "State of the Union" that some tips were anonymous and relied on second-hand information, which he said is "not something that can be really investigated."
As part of the nearly 3.5 million additional documents relating to the late convicted sex offender the Department of Justice (DOJ) released on Friday are allegations about Trump and Epstein the FBI received as tips through its National Threat Operations Center. |

The partial government shutdown is poised to last through at least Tuesday as House Democrats decline to commit to providing the votes needed to fast-track approval of a funding package to reopen the government.
The House Rules Committee is scheduled to meet on Monday at 4 p.m. to consider the funding package and other legislation it will tee up for the week. Floor votes to approve procedural rule legislation setting the terms of debate for the package, and then a final vote on the funding package, are not expected until Tuesday at the earliest. Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado on Sunday said she will become the president of the Latin American nation "when the time comes."
Her comments follow the January capture of regime leader Nicolás Maduro by the Trump administration and weeks of uncertainty regarding Caracas' political future. "I will be president when the time comes. But it doesn't matter. That should be decided in elections by the Venezuelan people," Machado said during an appearance on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday morning.
