As we count down the days to our country’s celebration of its independence, the irony is not wasted on us that American interest in royalty—yes, the system the US fought to escape—is hitting a high. Even fictional monarchies are having a moment—just look at all the Game of Thrones spin-offs coming down the pike. Or maybe it’s not an irony at all?
