Energy & Environment — Government won't support Arctic climate report

View Online Energy & Environment Energy & Environment The Big Story  NOAA pulls support from Arctic Report Card The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is pulling its support from an Arctic climate and environment report it has helped with in the past. © AP Photo/Mark Thiessen Rick Thoman, lead editor for the 2026 Arctic Report Card, said that participants were informed Monday that they would no longer receive assistance from the government agency.   “We were informed in a phone call with NOAA yesterday that effective immediately NOAA was ending all support for the Arctic Report Card,” Thoman told The Hill.   “No rationale was given at all,” he added.   The report has been published every year since 2006 and describes current conditions in the Arctic.   The government move to withdraw support, which was first reported by Politico, throws this year’s iteration of the report into flux.   “We are frantically working to find a way” to make this year’s report happen, Thoman said. “Whether we can pull something together to have a December release, we’ll try to make it happen…being it’s already August, that’s going to be a tough lift but we’ll try.”   Read more at TheHill.com.
