I spent Sunday morning being held hostage by Elon Musk. Okay, so really I was watching a four-hour-long documentary about Musk, directed by Alex Gibney, and I was free to leave at any time. I was also very on-trend. As Rebecca Ford notes today, the fall film calendar has an unusual number of movies about evil tech billionaires: not only Musk, but also Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Reckoning (about Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg), Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial (about Open AI and Sam Altman), and Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s You Can See Everything (about Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes). All that, and Netflix will soon premiere a scripted series about FTX and Sam Bankman-Fried called The Altruists. I’m starting to think that giving a bunch of egomaniacs unchecked wealth and power might not have been such a great idea! Elsewhere, VF reveals everything you missed at the 2026 Emmy Awards.
