Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) has been accused of domestic violence allegations by his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, who is the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio).
The political fallout has been mounting, especially after Sen. Moreno publicly called for Miller, his ex-son-in-law, to resign. “As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter,” Moreno wrote in a statement.
First, the allegations: The couple divorced in 2025 and have been in an ugly custody battle over their daughter. Emily Moreno has accused Miller of throwing scalding hot water at her, holding a gun to her head and breaking his 2-year-old daughter’s collarbone.

Miller also slammed Sen. Moreno’s timing: Two days prior to Moreno publicly calling for Miller to resign, he sidestepped a questions about whether Miller should stay on the ballot.
Miller argued that if the allegations mounted against him were true, Moreno wouldn’t have waited “two years before holding him accountable.”
However, Moreno says he had hoped to keep this family matter private “out of concern for the safety of my family.”
Now, the political fallout: Several Republican senators have called for Miller’s resignation. And Trump allies are pushing for Miller to drop out of his reelection race, according to CNN.
However, Miller, who is a former Trump campaign aide, told The Wall Street Journal on Monday that he recently spoke with President Trump and says the president “was supportive of me over the phone.”

A lawyer for Miller admitted this morning to accidentally releasing “private images” of his daughter after a lawyer for Emily Moreno accused Miller of sharing an image that “could be considered Child Sexual Abuse Material.” Read more in Politico
How it reportedly happened: Miller posted documents on Dropbox on Sunday to defend himself. But Moreno’s lawyer says there was a sensitive image of his daughter in the folder.
